~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It has officially arrived, but has unofficially
been here for some time. It followed the "winter that wasn't" (to quote a cutomer).
               Nevertheless, nature is putting on a quite a show and Easter is fast approaching. Time to spring clean and freshen up your nest - and where better to find what you need than Feathers and Twigs?
We have all kinds of new (old) stuff , wonderful local  artwork, locally made jams and jellies, antique dishes and glasswear, vintage Easter hats and gloves, Easter baskets, spring wreaths and so much more! Please include us on your next outing - you could go for a ride to  see all the spring blooms and then browse around Feathers and Twigs,  as well as all the other fun places to shop in our area. Be sure and ask for one of our new antiquing brochures that will direct you to a day's worth of great shopping  around west Georgia.
Somtimes we find things but aren't able to find
their rightful owners.
I am going to try posting these "lost and found" items
and see what happens....
We had a three legged shelf that
someone bought as is - later I found the fourth leg!
           Just as the seasons change and spring's rebirth is a part of the circle of life, death is also a part of it all. My family has just experienced this with the unexpected passing of my sister, Susan. We have all been so sad to have to let her go, but we are finding ways to honor her memory and her spirit. She was the most upbeat, happy, alive-in-the-moment person I have ever known. She was a "starving artist" and never had material riches. She was also the richest person I have ever known. She only shopped at thrift stores and LOVED Feathers and Twigs. She recycled everything (mostly out of necessity, but also in her artistic way). It will be hard to throw away all the Christmas wrapping paper this year, as she loved flattening out and saving all the "best" paper to use again next year! So, while she leaves a small carbon footprint, she leaves huge footprints on the hearts of all who knew her. This picture is from last year on my birthday (she had made me a Feathers and Twigs scrapbook).
It has been hard to write this newsletter, knowing that  my biggest fan won't be here to read it, to comment, and to even make copies of it ! But, I'd love to keep her spirit alive by suggesting that you make an effort to enjoy every minute of every day and focus on what you have (versus what you don't have!). We may be in a recession, but there is still beauty and wonder all around us - Susan saw it every day and we can all learn from that. I found this Anne Frank quote in Susan's sketchbook -
"Think of all the beauty still left around you and be happy." That about sums Susan up.
She was a wonderful big sister!
We are having a "Celebration of her Life" Memorial and Art Show on her birthday, April 7th. If you knew her and would like to attend, just ask and I'll give you the details.
